Pickle-ball® is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special Pickle-ball® paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The lower net and wiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle.
the Game
In addition to the modified net and gear, there are several key rules in Pickle-ball® that help make the game more accessible. In tennis, and many net sports, games are often won and lost by the power of the serve. In Pickle-ball®, the ball must bounce once on each side before volleys are allowed. This opens the game to more players and extends play for added fun.

Forest Lake Estates has two hard surface tennis courts. Extra racquets and balls, for loan, are kept in the shed between the shuffleboard area and tennis courts. Mixed doubles, round robin play occurs from Monday through Saturday, from 8am-10am. Depending on the number of players, but most often, as one game ends, the person who served last, comes out and the next player on the bench comes into the left position on the receiving side, while players rotate one spot. The activity time lasts two hours, but individuals can decide to play for a portion of that time. Usually players vary in age and skill levels with safety, courtesy, friendship and enjoyment being the activity group’s priorities. Interested residents/guests can always observe and decide if they wish to participate. The activity leader for tennis will accommodate all skill levels, as much as possible.
